As with Emperor Norton, Beach Blanket Babylon and cable cars, watercolor artist James Gleeson is all San Francisco. "I'm very proud of my background and thankful to be part of The City," James says. "Realism is my style and I am at home with people and neighborhoods that are often overlooked. I work from dark to light in my painting and strive for that extra contrast." His works can be found displayed at the National Portrait Gallery, San Francisco's Marriott Hotel and the US embassy in Belize. James' clients include the San Francisco Giants, Fox Television, United Parcel Service and Boudin Bakery. You may have seen his pieces at the Sausalito Art Festival, The Marin Art Festival, the Union Street Festival and the Castro Street Fair. James' paintings have been in the 1999 AWS and the 2002 NWS travelling exhibits. Recipient of over 100 awards for his achievements in watercolor, he often serves as a juror at art events. Son and grandson of San Franciscans, James graduated from the University of San Francisco and the Academy of Art College at which he is now a faculty member. He earned his BFA and Certificate of Illustration and he is also a certified Gold Level tutor for the ColArt Corp. James also demonstrates and instructs for the Windsor & Newton Corp.
